Naturopathy What is Naturopathic Medicine? Nature acts in a powerful and profound manner through mental, physical, and emotional mechanisms to restore balance when sickness arises. The greater the degree of health, the quicker this balance is restored. When healing capacities of the body are compromised, help is needed. Naturopaths are licensed primary care physicians (in many states) who use natural, effective, and non-toxic therapies to promote health, stimulate the body’s vital force, and further prevent disease. Naturopaths are dedicated to empowering people by educating them about health, disease, treatments, and prevention. The Naturopathic Doctor A Different Kind of Physician A licensed naturopathic physician (N.D.) attends a four-year graduate level naturopathic medical school. Their training includes a strong foundation in medical biological science and diagnosis. In addition to standard medical curriculum, the naturopathic physician is required to complete four years of training in clinical nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, psychology, and counseling (to encourage people to make lifestyle changes in support of their personal health). |
